The true spirit of service was demonstrated by our Savior on the evening before the events leading to His death. (John 13:1-17) The opportunities to serve our fellowman are wide and diverse. Some of these opportunities are listed below, but you may have a new and refreshing idea. If so, please it bring it forward and share with the church. If you have a desire to be involved in any of the works listed below, please contact the shepherd or deacon responsible for the work (above). PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE Think of this as "Acme Incorporated." Should someone need help in moving, the Acme Moving Company (comprised of strong backs and associated equipment) will be on the scene. Let's say an older person from the community needs work done around the house and is unable to do so, then Acme Handyman is at their service. You get the picture. HOW CAN YOU HELP?
FAMILY MENTORING Young couples who make the decision to marry need help in many ways. One of the most beneficial things that they can receive is sound advice from those who have been through similar experiences. The "older mentoring the younger" is a Biblical concept. HOW CAN YOU HELP?
RESOURCE MINISTRY Think about all of the events which take place at VCC that require supplies. Kitchen supplies for fellowships and potlucks, supplies to clean the building and clear the grounds, even a trip to the rest room. Someone must take the time to ensure that supplies are readily available. This may be your talent. If so, please let us know! FACILITY MAINTENANCE Not everyone is cut out for maintenance. God created some of us with the ability to be a great handyman (or handywoman, for that matter)! As our facilities grow in the coming year, so will the need for volunteers who are capable to keeping the buildings and grounds in orderl. ADMINISTRATIVE Office help is a valuable commodity in any setting, but especially so in a church environment. Communications is so vitally important to who we are and what we do. Administrative help is needed - from filing paperwork, to compiling correspondence, to making sure that they bulletin and prayer lists are properly published. OTHER? The most valuable servant is the one who has the ability to recognize that something needs to be done and the ACTS on that need. You may well recognize a need that no one else has noticed. If so, please act on that particular item. Don't wait for someone else to see the need and ask for your help. If you find yourself in this situation, the please speak up! Your help is desperately needed! Click here to return to the home page! |
