EDUCATION AS AN AREA OF MINISTRY IN 2010

It is the goal of the Vilonia church to be known in similar fashion as the first century church in Berea (Acts 17:10-11).  We strive to be serious students of the word of God and to make Bible study a part of our daily lives.  The elders have also set aside time twice a week for the church to gather for corporate Bible study.  We meet at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday and at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday for this purpose.

If you can help with any of the programs listed below, please contact the shepherd or deacon responsible for the work (above).  Listed below are a number of ways in which you can help.  These lists are not all-inclusive, but merely suggestions to help as you consider being involved in this work.  If your talents, gifts and abilities prepare you to be involved in Education, we encourage you to do so.

CLASSROOM TEACHING

Classroom teachers are needed across a wide range of age groups and class types.  This program will grow as construction of our facilities are completed in 2010.  Your help will be needed more than ever this year!  If you've never done this type of work and wish to learn more about it, please contact Marty Knight, the shepherd responsible for this work.  Perhaps you would feel more comfortable in a role as "co-teacher" or "classroom assistant."  Regardless of the role, you are needed!

     HOW CAN YOU HELP?

• By teaching a class in any of the following age groups (nursery, pre-school, elementary, secondary, or adults)

• Helping in a classroom setting by acting as co-teacher or assistant

LEADERSHIP AND COORDINATION

This is a new role being developed in 2010.  Individuals who are willing to act as coordinators (possibly by age group) would be of great value to our Education Ministry.

     HOW CAN YOU HELP?

• By providing leadership, strategic vision and support

TEACHER RESOURCE AND SUPPORT

A successful education department is not solely dependent upon teachers.  Many resources are needed

     HOW CAN YOU HELP?

• Stocking classrooms with supplies, aids, and materials needed to conduct classes

• By making crafts or copying and binding materials

• Developing media such as PowerPoint presentations or videos
